Tom has been in the public accounting, business valuation and merger and acquisition fields for over 25 years. Since marketing and selling his own business in 1987, Tom’s interest quickly moved to business valuation, formulating and executing exit strategies and “making the deal”.
Tom obtained his BS in Management at Long Island University. Tom went on to earn his MBA in Accounting at St. Johns University while working as an assistant controller in the non-bank financial segment of a major New York Bank. As an assistant controller, Tom gained valuable experience with commercial finance, time sales, and factoring; this fostered a deep interest in equity financing.
Tom’s passion for mergers and acquisitions lead to his obtaining his certification as a Certified Valuation Analyst, a credential which allowed him to enter the field of business valuation as an expert. Tom has valued hundreds of businesses over the past 20 years, in many industries including construction, food service and restaurants, manufacturing, development companies, family limited partnerships, golf courses and real estate holding companies.
During this time, Tom worked with many companies matching buyers and sellers for merger or acquisition opportunities. Tom has completed many deals on both the buy-side and the sell-side for a plethora of business-types ranging from HVAC, plumbing, and electric to grocery stores, restaurants, and security guard services.
Tom recently earned his designation as a Chartered Merger and Acquisition Professional (CMAP), a prestigious credential awarded by the Middle Market Investment Banking Association. Obtaining this credential requires significant knowledge, experience and expertise in the field of investment banking, as well as passing a proctored exam.
Tom is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and the Middle Market Investment Banking Association. Tom has served on many community non-profit boards including the YMCA advisory board, is a past president of the Placida Rotary Club, and is currently President of the Suncoast Humane Society in Englewood, FL.
